Tree Planting on Waiheke Island
In June 2019, our Auckland Team spent the day planting trees on Waiheke Island. Great weather, great team work, and great for the environment!
Some lovely feedback from Waiheke Council too…
Thanks Freedom Mobility!
We think you’re awesome!
Hey team! Thanks so much for putting in some awesome mahi and dealing with the weeds in Matiatia last week!
The work you were doing is really important to the success of the wetland restoration, and of course wetlands are really important to the health of our waterways, oceans and what lives within these areas. It’s awesome to see organisations embracing the project and all pitching in to get these areas thriving again.
We’re currently fundraising for further planting to occur on Waiheke Island; we’re aiming for $25,025 to enable 325 metres of the wetland to be restored with 1,724 native plants and trees.
The planned plantings will create a buffer between the waterway and the land, help to filter contaminants, reduce erosion and provide habitat for the rare moho-pererū (Banded Rail) and other birds.
Planting will occur in the winter of 2020 at the Rangihoua Wetland.

Yours Sustainably,
The Love Our Wetlands Waiheke Crew 🙂 |
