Cromwell
Cromwell is known as ‘the gateway to Central Otago’ as it is situated between Alexandra, Wanaka and Queenstown. It is on the shores of Lake Dunstan, making it a great location to stay for easy day trips to all corners of central Otago. Originally established for gold miners, the town is known these days for stone fruit. It is a must-see for its historic Cromwell township, but also for its local vineyards producing some of the world’s best wine. The area is particularly beautiful in autumn and spring, with beautiful colours on the lakeside.
