Piha is a scenic black-sand surf beach on the rugged coast west of Auckland.
Debi who is admin at The Surf Lifesaving Club on Piha Beach says that there is no wheelchair access down to the water’s edge of Piha. However, If client is able to seat transfer, she can arrange for a quad bike to take you down to the water’s edge. Debi also suggested maybe a wheelchair that is used to get clients into swimming pools, it may work for the beach as well. There is mobility parking and the accessible toilets are in the clubhouse. They also run a special day with their disability children’s surfing program.
