Take a relaxing wheel around the base track of Tauranga’s famous mountain. The sea is a consistent companion on your journey, almost completely surrounding the mountain. In many places the walkway is mere meters from the water. Sit back and watch the many ships and boats, pass by as they head towards the port. If you are interested in New Zealand’s native trees, you can see many ancient Pōhutukawa trees on the side of the mountain. These will be in bloom during December, earning the Pōhutukawa the moniker of New Zealand’s Christmas Tree.
Track Time: Approximately 45 minutes (allowing for a couple of short breaks).
Accessibility
The track is both wide and flat allowing for either a manual or powerchair to enjoy the walkway.
