Dark Sky Project (formerly Earth & Sk7) is New Zealand’s premier stargazing and observatory experience. Located in Takapō (Lake Tekapo) – one of the best regions in the world for seeing the night skies.
Their world-first multimedia Dark Sky Experience allows you to discover the night skies from a unique cultural and scientific perspective (45mins). This daytime experience is located at their base and is fully accessible. There is also a cafe inside the base with lake views.
The Dark Sky Project crew have previously catered for wheelchair users on their nighttime Crater Experience (75mins). This does involve gravel paths so best to check ahead and find out if it will be suitable for you.
The night time experience at the Mt John Observatory is not suitable for wheelchairs due to the gravel roads and the inclines up near the observatory.
The team are easy to deal with and will be happy to talk through any of your requirements and what might be suitable so ring ahead.
