This short 400m walkway takes you up to three incredible viewing platforms that look out over the stunning Rainbow Falls. The third and final platform is at the head of a historic weir. There is plenty of information available detailing how this weir was the first electrical power station to provide electricity to early Kerikeri. Remains of Kerikeri’s hydro-electric station and weir are still visible from this platform.
On your journey to the platforms listen out for tuis’ calls. Fantails also frequent the native trees found along the pathway.
Accessibility
While there are no mobility parks available, the carpark is smooth and flat. The pathway is a mixture of smooth pavement and wooden platforms covered in chicken wire making it accessible for manual or power chairs alike.
This track connects to another that goes down to the waterfall’s basin which is not accessible as it is very steep and is later made with hard packed gravel.
