Frank, Senior Driving Instructor, has been with Freedom Mobility for over 6 years. Previously Frank has worked in the UK for MIRA (testing for high impact on vehicles and testing vehicle electronics). He also spent time in the USA where he was a driving Instructor for Class 5 vehicles, trucking throughout the States
With so many years of experience, Frank has a huge amount of knowledge of different vehicles, conversions and adaptations.
A Typical Day for Frank:
“I am based in Auckland but I am fortunate to be able to travel the whole of New Zealand delivering vehicles to people living with short and long term disabilities”
“I have an early morning start driving a Freedom vehicle to rural Palmerston North for a lady with 3 children, Achilles injury of 5 weeks. She’s not been able to get out and about. The office will have called ahead and arranged the time I should arrive and the client will be expecting me.
I take her for a familiarisation lesson, beginning with me driving and demonstrating the hand controls, spinner and any other vehicle features.
During the second part of the lesson the client gets behind the wheel and drives on familiar roads. She demonstrates that she is capable of controlling the vehicle using hand controls and undertaking normal manoeuvres. Once I am satisfied she is safe, we return to her home and complete the Safety Paperwork and Rental Agreement.
Usually a shuttle will pick me up and take me to the airport, homeward bound. It’s a long day, but very satisfying.”
“I’m passionate about my job because I love helping people. The owner of the company trusts my judgement. She knows that when I am with the client I will make the right decision for client’s benefit.
The Freedom Mobility team is the best team I have been privileged to be part of: supportive, friendly, helpful and fun!”
